Reading up on the new build coming and possible release content, one cannot help but ponder if CCP will allow an SP 'REFUND' (not an SP wipe) to allow everyone to try out the new skills without having to grind hundreds of thousands of SP just to test the new content out. Allowing an SP 'refund' would also allow the newberries a mulligan from their wasted SP on skills they didnt need.
Or at the very least, allow an AUR cost to refund one's skills every build(?) |

They are also just as likely to do nothing.
I was thinking they would do it this way if ever as well. Dropsuits would most likely be the only skills that would be affected by the builds especially if they would be releasing new base types (pilot dropsuit back in the old builds) or having race specific dropsuit skills.
I inferred that they would release racial dropsuits per type (i.e. assault, heavy etc) which means the skills we put on say caldari assault would not allow you to use say, minmatar assault dropsuit. This can be correlated to CCP's statement that it would take 7 years to max everything out. |

Obviously, this isn't a released game yet as well. Furthermore, I find your arguement lacking as WoW's system wiped completely all the skills earned during the beta when the game released as well as the fact that WoW's skill reset system is paid via gold currency which translates into ISK in our game terms. None of which is comparable to the question I posed in this thread, mind you.
Reading up on the 'helpful' posts in this thread shows that the possibility of skill refund may be mitigated or 'compromised' by refunding skills that are affected by new build, namely, drop suits which is somewhat backed up by prevous EVE refunds as well.
No one said this was WoW. |

It seems many people here don't want a large playerbase though, so the decision to make things easier for players to get into is always going to get downvotes.
Why the elitist mentality? idk, but it drives people away. No hate towards anyone personally You guys have to realize that there's no such thing as a wasted skill, every skill opens up abilities and bonuses. Also welcome to the world of EVE. You gotta suffer through the consequences of your decisions. Video that proves it > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45mlVuLs_NwAlso do you want to give all those people running max boosters and capping everyday the ability to restock all the SP into something like HAVs and all Armor and Shield skills?
The counter-argument here is when they released different racial drop suits and/or base drop suit (i.e. pilot or the like). The player-base now has invested at least 400k SP on a particular class suit maybe a million if they got ADV type-B already. If CCP releases new content via drop suit, what would be the incentive for the current players to try out those suits? They would opt to use the current ones they have and CCP wont be able to have a good amount of players new and old to play-test their new content for any bugs/changes.
Your scenario on pouring all the SP to other skills is bereft of merit, IMO, considering the number of SP we would need to max out tanks and dropsuit/weapon skills. Even if they maxed out one spectrum, it would mean that they dont have enough for the other.
In any event, I can only speak for myself but I would want to test out the new drop suits and have the chance to spend the SP I put on my Caldari Assault on to some other suit if I find that it suits my playstyle better. Otherwise, even if I find a better racial suit, but since I spent over 1 million SP on my DS I wont be using the new suit cause I basically 'wasted' my SP on the caldari if I suddenly changed |

So when all Dropsuits are introduced, and you have let's say 400K in Caldari Assault, it gives you the one-time option to put that 400K into the other assault suits of other races, no other skills.
We could only hope. I like the idea as it would limit any kind of abuse to just drop suits only. However, that would take a lot of effort in coding(?) on CCP's part. I may be wrong about that though.
I really like the diversity direction CCP is taking on this MMOFPS and I would really like to see different types of suits out there using different types of weapons. Cause honestly, you always see the bulk as Assault AR or Heavy HMG or even Shotty Scouts. The diversity will be stunted if the player base now wont be able to utilize the new suits when tehy do come out.
Im looking forward to minmatar assault suits with additional slots or somethig like that. It would give more depth as to the personalization being done to each dropsuit.
